The Blue Rose of Forgetfulness (2021, 63:30) is my latest feature length series of collage films, is a compilation of 6 films created between 2015 and 2020. At once focused and diffuse, porous and dense, it is a cinema of shifting moods and engagements centered upon thematics of love that offers a tactile exploration of elliptical narrative. 2010 \u5e74 5 \u6708\uff0c\u885b\u514b\u65af\u7d0d\u85dd\u8853\u4e2d\u5fc3\u8209\u8fa6\u4e86 5 \u5834\u514b\u62c9\u723e\u96fb\u5f71\u56de\u9867\u5c55\u3002 2013 \u5e74 3 \u6708\uff0c\u4ed6\u7684\u6578\u4f4d\u96fb\u5f71\u5728\u96fb\u5f71\u535a\u7269\u9928\u9032\u884c\u4e86\u5468\u672b\u56de\u9867\u5c55\uff0c\u4e26\u5728\u300a\u85dd\u8853\u8ad6\u58c7\u300b\u4e0a\u767c\u8868\u4e86\u9577\u9054 8 \u9801\u7684\u7c21\u4ecb\/\u8a2a\u8ac7\u3002 MoMI \u4e5f\u65bc 2023 \u5e74 10 \u6708\u8209\u8fa6\u4e86 3 \u5834\u514b\u62c9\u723e\u4f5c\u54c1\u56de\u9867\u5c55\u3002\u4ed6\u7684\u96fb\u5f71\u300a\u661f\u671f\u4e09\u51cc\u6668\u4e8c\u6642\u300b\u69ae\u73722010\u5e74\u9e7f\u7279\u4e39\u570b\u969b\u5f71\u5c55\u6700\u4f73\u77ed\u7247\u864e\u734e\u3002\u4ed6\u7684\u53f2\u8a69\u7d1a\u526a\u7d19\u52d5\u756b\u300a\u6cd5\u8001\u738b\u7684\u8170\u5e36\u300b\u65bc 1994 \u5e74\u69ae\u7372\u7f8e\u570b\u570b\u5bb6\u96fb\u5f71\u8a55\u8ad6\u5bb6\u5354\u6703\u9812\u767c\u7684\u5be6\u9a57\u4f5c\u54c1\u7279\u5225\u734e\u3002\u514b\u62c9\u723e\u7684\u5287\u60c5\u9577\u7247\u300a<\/span>The Pettifogger<\/span>\u300b\u88ab\u300a\u85dd\u8853\u8ad6\u58c7\u300b\u96dc\u8a8c\u8a55\u9078\u70ba 2012 \u5e74\u5ea6\u6700\u4f73\u96fb\u5f71\u4e4b\u4e00\u3002\u4ed6\u9084\u7372\u5f97\u4e86\u54e5\u672c\u54c8\u6839\u683c\u502b\u5167\u52a0\u5fb7\u5287\u9662\uff08Lulu\uff09\u548c\u9e7f\u7279\u4e39\u570b\u969b\u96fb\u5f71\u7bc0\uff08Two Minutes to Zero\uff09\u7b49\u6b50\u6d32\u85dd\u8853\u7d44\u7e54\u7684\u59d4\u8a17\u5275\u4f5c\u3002 \u514b\u62c9\u723e\u7684\u4f5c\u54c1\u88ab\u6c38\u4e45\u6536\u85cf\u65bc\u7d10\u7d04\u73fe\u4ee3\u85dd\u8853\u535a\u7269\u9928\u3001Collecion Inelcom \u4ee5\u53ca\u5404\u7a2e\u79c1\u4eba\u6536\u85cf\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n

\u514b\u62c9\u723e\u7684\u9577\u7bc7\u7cfb\u5217\u300a\u516d\u5341\u516d\u300b\u65bc 2015 \u5e74 12 \u6708\u5728\u73fe\u4ee3\u85dd\u8853\u535a\u7269\u9928\u9996\u6620\uff0c\u9580\u7968\u5168\u6578\u552e\u7f44\u3002\u8a72\u7247\u88ab\u300a\u7d10\u7d04\u6642\u5831\u300b\u8a55\u8ad6\u5bb6\u99ac\u8afe\u62c9\u00b7\u9054\u5409\u65af\uff08Manohla Dargis\uff09\u8a55\u9078\u70ba\u5e74\u5ea6\u5341\u5927\u5f71\u7247\u4e4b\u4e00\u3002 2016 \u5e74\u548c 2017 \u5e74\uff0c\u300a\u516d\u5341\u516d\u300b\u5728\u7f8e\u570b\u3001\u6b50\u6d32\u548c\u4e9e\u6d32\u7684\u96fb\u5f71\u7bc0\u3001\u96fb\u5f71\u9662\u548c\u535a\u7269\u9928\u9032\u884c\u4e86\u5de1\u8ff4\u6f14\u51fa\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n

\u514b\u62c9\u723e\u662f 2010 \u5e74\u885b\u514b\u65af\u7d0d\u85dd\u8853\u4e2d\u5fc3\u5a92\u9ad4\u85dd\u8853\u99d0\u7559\u734e\u5f97\u4e3b\u30012013 \u5e74\u5e03\u62c9\u54c8\u683c\u8996\u89ba\u734e\u5f97\u4e3b\u30011992 \u5e74\u53e4\u6839\u6f22\u7814\u7a76\u54e1\uff0c\u4e5f\u66fe\u7372\u5f97\u570b\u5bb6\u85dd\u8853\u57fa\u91d1\u6703\u3001\u7d10\u7d04\u5dde\u85dd\u8853\u59d4\u54e1\u6703\u3001\u5275\u610f\u85dd\u8853\u5bb6\u516c\u5171\u670d\u52d9\u6a5f\u69cb\u3001\u5091\u7f85\u59c6\u57fa\u91d1\u6703\u548c\u5275\u610f\u8cc7\u672c\u7684\u8cc7\u52a9\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n

\u5289\u6613\u65af\u30fb\u514b\u62c9\u723e\u73fe\u5c45\u6d1b\u6749\u78ef\uff0c\u5728\u52a0\u5dde\u85dd\u8853\u5b78\u9662\u6232\u5287\u5b78\u9662\u4efb\u6559\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n

Lewis Klahr has been making films since 1977 working successively in Super 8, then 16mm and now digital. He is known for his uniquely idiosyncratic collage films, which use found images and sound to explore the intersection of memory and history. Klahr’s films have screened extensively in the United States, Europe and Asia \u2013 in venues such as New York’s Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Biennial (3 times), the New York Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival, the Hong Kong International Film Festival, The Tate Modern, the Pompidou Center, Redcat, MOCA and the LA County Museum of Art.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In May of 2010 The Wexner Center for the Arts presented a 5 program retropsective of Klahr\u2019s films. In March 2013 his digital Films received a weekend retro at the Museum of the Moving Image that was accomapanied by an 8 page profile\/interview in Artforum. MoMI also did a 3 program retrospective of Klahr\u2019s work in October 2023. His film \u201cWednesday Morning Two A.M.\u201d was awarded a Tiger Award for Best Short Film at the 2010 International Film Festival at Rotterdam. His epic cutout animation \u201cThe Pharaoh\u2019s Belt\u201d received a special citation for experimental work from the National Society of Film Critics in 1994. Klahr’s feature length film “The Pettifogger” was selected as one of the best films of 2012 by Artforum Magazine. He has also received commissions from European arts organizations such as the Gronnegard Theater in Copenhagen (Lulu) and the Rotterdam International Film Festival (Two Minutes to Zero). Klahr\u2019s work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Collecion Inelcom as well as various private collections.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Klahr\u2019s feature length series Sixty Six premiered in December 2015 at MoMA in a sold out screening. It was included on the NY Times critic Manohla Dargis\u2019 10 Best Films of the year list. Throughout 2016 and 2017 Sixty Six extensively toured the U.S., Europe and Asia in film festivals, cinemas and museums.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Klahr was The Wexner Center for the Arts 2010 Media Arts Residency Award Winner, the 2013 Brakhage Vision Award winner, a 1992 Guggenheim Fellow and has also received funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, the NY State Council of the Arts, Creative Artists Public service, the Jerome Foundation and Creative Capital.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
