專題策劃：曹愷

那些懷舊、交錯、緩慢、無聲的人物，逐漸成為楊福東作品的標誌，一種對老電影的追述。分析楊福東的作品，很難將他歸類到任何一個中國當代藝術運動或者群體經驗之中。在中國當代藝術逐漸主流化、商業化的今天，在中國正處在崛起的階段，楊福東恰恰提供了被知識分子不斷提及卻事實缺位的個體經驗與獨立於群體之外的方式，一個獨特的個人系統。

Intellectual: Yang Fudong

It was the figures from the past, these unhurried, silent figures, spliced together in different scenes, that would in time become the focus of Yang Fudong’s work, in references to the movies of days gone by. It is very difficult to classify the work of Yang Fudong as being part of any particular Chinese contemporary art movement, or within any particular group. Today, as we are seeing Chinese contemporary art becoming increasingly mainstream and commercialized, and at a point in time when China is becoming more and more powerful in the global context, Yang Fudong supplies us with something that intellectuals continuously allude to, but just as often lack, an individual experience and an approach different from that of the herd, a completely unique individual system.

【記憶物象：影像記憶的當代性情感轉換】

如果說時間是紀錄微觀和宏觀的情感本源，我們書寫當代影像藝術之時，這個年代的藝術家必定會回憶他們走過的年代，這些年代記憶中傳達給我們的生存感受，即帶有一個時代的特徵。生存環境帶給我們的不論是快樂和苦澀的經歷終究都會消逝，記憶物象的時空感帶給我們的感傷是很多藝術家表達情感的一個願望。這次展覽作品中題材如記憶的環境、陰影與情感、歷史原像以當代語言來進行的轉換，也給記憶帶來了個性新鮮的感覺。

Objects in Memory : Contemporary empathetic translation of visual memory

If we say that time is the source of records for micro- and macro- emotions, then when we look at the film arts during a certain period, the artists from this period are likely to draw from the time they lived through. The feelings brought about by these descriptions of time and memory will carry the features of that period. We ought to look back to history time to time, in order to properly assess the presence and the future. Whatever the living environment brings us, happiness or bitterness, is fleeting, after all. Therefore it is the artists’ anticipation that their expressions will bring back the feelings caused by the memories.

【屏幕美學 – 數位藝術對世界的渲染與重建】

專題策劃：王泊喬

本單元展映的實驗影像以二維和三維的數位藝術動畫作品為主，創作者全部是美術學院背景，涉及油畫、版畫、雕塑、攝影、美術史等多個專業。藝術家們運用電腦等數位工具所創造的影像作品似乎是虛幻和荒誕的，但所表達的往往比現實更加真實和直接。他們常常遊走在真實和虛幻之間，時而轉換角色和身份，他們通過這些充滿了想像力和靈性的作品，探索和追尋人類文化和精神的本源，喚回那些被我們遺忘了的美。

Screen Aesthetics Digital Art’s : Rendering and reconstruction of the world

Designated Topic Curator: Bojoe Wang

The experimental images exhibited in this unit mainly comprise two dimensional and three-dimensional works digital art animations, whose authors include students and professors from fine arts colleges specializing in oil painting, print, sculpture, photography, art history, etc. Through digital tools like computers artists have created images that are apparently unreal and even absurd but whose expressions are more realistic and direct than the reality. They explore and retrace the essence of human civilization and spirit to remember the beauties that we have long forgotten, through their works of imagination and inspiration.

【鄉愁次韻：邱黯雄專題】

專題策劃：曹愷

邱黯雄堪稱中國當代國際藝術家中上升最快的新星之一，作品風格多元，無論是油畫、動畫、錄像作品、還是現代雕塑裝置都游刃有餘，不僅採用不同的媒材，而且提出了不同的參考架構，從公開的社會批判轉變為超然的沉默。他從不試探，而是充滿信心地採用宏大的場面和流暢的敘述，也願意顯露個人的一面，甚至帶點書生氣息。作為亞洲藝術的一部分，他的作品不僅與傳統藝術不同，也與古代藝術有所區別。

Nostalgia: Qiu Anxiong

Qiu Anxiong has been called “one of the quickest rising stars” of a generation of Chinese contemporary artists who exhibit and sell internationally. Qiu’s diverse, even hybrid practice moves with apparent ease between painting on canvas and animated film, video art filmed in real time, and installation projects. Not only do Qiu’s works employ different media but they also broach different frames of reference, switching from an openly socio-critical stance to detached quiescence. Never tentative, Qiu confidently employs the spectacular and performative aspect, but he is equally willing to reveal his more intimate, somewhat bookish side. Qiu’s oeuvre runs counter not only to the stereotypical distinction between traditional and modern in Asian art, but also between ancient and modern.

平淡生活、個人化、物慾、不正常、悖論、都市化、休閒、消費、倫理、時空、道德、介入現實、良知、責任、情感、時代感。日常生活與當下人群聯繫最緊密，我們的日常生活越來越個性化，成長於改革開放後的生存環境，物質生活越來越豐富，在追求和滿足不斷變化的物質生活的同時，慾望越來越強烈。日常生活也會出現異常，出現很多新的社會現象：如、數位情感氾濫、新的倫理、丁克家庭、月光族、娛樂一代、人工社會、一夜情等等，心理上也會出現各種異常。

【生命寓言：普世、永恆、經典和終極生命價值的影像再思考】

專題策劃： 張海濤

超現實、潛意識、夢幻、怪誕、形而上、靜止、寓言、道理、不相干、永恆、經典轉換、終極生命價值、陌生感藝術的當代性除了表達當下人的生存感受，還會把當下的生存感受與永恆的寓言嫁接，給我們新的啟示。在表現這些寓言時多採用超現實的手法，讓陌生的「世界」產生強烈的象徵，這些不相干的畫面與事物混雜出潛意識，作品產生的夢幻、怪誕、靜止、神秘感來給我們述說生存的道理，也是將永恆哲理的當代化轉換。

Superrealism, subconsciousness, fairytale, fantasy, metaphysics, stillness, metaphor, reasons, disengagement, eternity, transformation of classics, ultimate value of existence, otherworldliness The modernity of arts, apart from expressing the feelings of existence at the present, also combine these feelings with the everlasting fables for enlightenment. The modernization of the philosophy in many fables is also about symbolizing the strange worlds with superrealistic expressions, and embodying the arts with fairytales, fantasies, quiescence and mysteries to evoke the subconsciousness.

【曖昧空間：實驗劇情的不確定性表達】

專題策劃： 張海濤

這一範疇具有多重衍生性含義，諸如：模糊性、間斷性、若近若離、散漫性、多元性等等。象徵「曖昧」的藝術作品在傳統意義上的主題性被消解，提供更多視覺上的不確定和新觀念的可能性，時常在一部片子中以多焦點的隱形脈絡貫穿，最終整體傳達思想和情感。同一件作品呈現出語言與語言、內容與內容，甚至語言與內容不一致、曖昧交錯，這個類型的影片主要在實驗劇情長篇單元裡有所體現。實驗紀錄和實驗劇情即傾向於將敘事中融入樸實的觀念，又避開了狹義的觀念藝術的概念化、缺少情感、細節與感性的特徵，給觀者以新的視角認知現實。這類影片在語言樸素的基礎上強化了影像結構和場景內容的異化特徵，這也是未來的一個方向。

Ambiguity through Time-Space : The uncertain expressions in experimental films

This area has multiple and extended definitions, such as: vagueness, discontinuity, tentativeness, discursiveness, diversity, etc. The artworks that are “ambiguous” do not have firm themes in the traditional sense; instead, they provide more visual uncertainties and possibilities of forming new concepts. The inner values are often underlying currents that would only reveal the key ideas if viewed as a whole. In the same piece, there will be inconsistencies among wordings, contents, or both.

【當代社會人群的精神幻景—沈朝方的混合美學世界】

沈朝方的影像作品反映了一個生存景觀與幻象的恆久主題—輝煌與幻滅、堂皇與落寞的交融，其影像不是對現實的直觀反映，而是呈現社會生存與心理幻象的糾纏，而這種亦真亦幻的景象卻更具有懾人心魄的力量；藝術形式上，沈朝方刻意使用傳統的元素，並將其現代化。華麗的傳統融合不協調的現代元素，古今交錯、現實與山寨混合，正是我們這個飛速運行卻失去方向的社會的鮮明寫照。沈朝方的作品以此構成了一種集典雅、淒厲、混搭、虛幻於一體的美學範式。

Psychological Illusion of People in Contemporary Society: Shen Chaofang’s Hybrid Aesthetic World

Designated Topic Curator: Cao Kai

Shen Chaofang’s video works express an eternal theme of existence and illusion – the convergence of splendor and disillusion, grandeur and desolation. Shen Chaofang’s works aren’t a direct representation of the real world. Instead, he presents a psychological world of existence and disillusion, whose images are more powerful and intense. What Shen Chaofang tries to capture is the feeling of existence in a modern society, however, in artistic forms, he intentionally incorporates traditional elements in his works. He takes tradition into consideration of modernity. The contrast and tension between glamorous traditional forms and disharmonious modern elements, inevitably, intensifies the absurdity of the setting. The hybrid of past and present, reality and illusion, as such, is a characteristic of the aimless fast-paced society we are now in. Based on it, Shen Chaofang’s works delivers a new mode of aesthetics – an integration of elegance, desolation, hybridity and illusion.

【當代藝術思維中的新電影】

2000年後中國開始出現跨界當代藝術和實驗電影創作的導演，他們利用電影的視聽語言、哲學思想、現代歷史、當代藝術思維，通過最新的科技直接或間接的表達政治問題，並以電影或影像作為媒介探索藝術新的可能。他們的作品凸顯獨特美學，以影像、攝影、電影對抗腐朽的主流市場和官方意識形態，他們​​即不是具有票房的電影導演，也不是藝術拍賣市場的寵兒，但他們是在已有的道路中另闢途徑的探索者，也是在各個領域的高峰，他們的藝術散發著獨特的魅力，這是他們引起重視的原因。

New Film In Contemporary Artistic Thoughts

Designated Topic Curator: Shen Chaofang

Directors have emerged to ride across modern art and experimental film making since the beginning of the noughties. They either consciously or subconsciously adopt audio-visual languages, philosophical thoughts, modern history, thoughts in contemporary art of film and the latest information technologies to voice on political issues either directly or indirectly, and in the process explore new possibilities of art via the media of film or images. Aesthetic qualities to their works are unique: they confront rotten mainstream markets and the official ideology with images, photography and films; they are not directors to make box office hits, nor are they favorites at auctions; but they are indeed explorers who look for alternative routes. They stand at on the peaks of their fields, with their art illuminating their distinctive charms, and that is the reason for the due attention they now receive.

【從記錄到觀念】

專題策劃：沈朝方

世界重要的文獻展開始關注中國的新媒體藝術，藝術家汪建偉和馮夢波的新媒體作品應邀參加了第十屆卡塞爾文獻展，次年，汪建偉和宋冬參加白南準策劃光州「信息」雙年展。這作為中國第一個影像的階段，伴隨著從紀錄到觀念的延伸，最終獲得國際性收穫，也是中國錄像發展的第一階段。這條脈絡延續至今，現場寫生系列影像作品多涉及社會學和現實紀錄的層面。吳達新的《長城計劃》即是動用大量人力在長城的現場置景的觀念攝影，及同步拍攝實施計劃的錄影作品，而此範疇中，楊福東、我的《宮樂圖》實驗電影、高世強、黃然、周依、陳軸、陸揚等人的作品也是通過電影的視聽和當代藝術的觀念思維向世界輸出中國美學。

From the Record to The Concept

Designated Topic Curator: Shen Chaofang

The most important document exhibition started to pay attention to China’s new media art in September, 1997, when artists Wang Jianwei and Feng Mengbo’s new media artworks were on display in the Tenth Kassel Documenta. In the following year, the work of Wang Jianwei and Song Dong were on display in the Gwangju Information Biennale planned by Nam June Paik. This was the first stage of China’s image, featuring the development from record to concept and further towards international achievements. This was also the first stage of China’s video development. With the development of media and technology, the second stage of images features excellent visual and aural technologies, classic film techniques, and film aesthetics produced with high quality in the digital age, among which, such works as my experimental film Gong Le Tu and works by Gao Shiqiang, Huang Ran, Zhou Yi, Chen Zhou, Lu Yang all export Chinese aesthetics to the rest of the world through film’s visual and aural effects and the concepts of contemporary art.
